I really enjoy the beauty of colored glass and the magic that comes from the light shining through them. What I make are called Glass on Glass Mosaics. They are not traditional stained glass with large pieces of glass separated by lead but instead they are made with tiny pieces of glass separated by grout. This creates a much more detailed and what I personally feel is a much prettier art form.
COMMISSION WORK QUESTION: I have been asked if I do commission work. My answer for those who have asked is Yes, as long as you're not in a hurry for it.
I teach art full time and try to create art during nights, weekends and school vacations. These stained glass mosaics are very time consuming and involve many stages from cutting the glass, to gluing, to grouting, to clean up. For windows, I need to find a vintage window that is close to the size you want first. These windows are expensive as they take me over 40 hours to create in most cases. Below are some windows I have done.
Below is a large glass mosaic, 15 panes and measures 36" w x 21.5" h. The measurement is without the eye hook screws and any additional chain or hooks to hang in front of your existing window. Sorry this one is SOLD!
Below is a large glass mosaic, 4 panes and measures 30" w x 31"h. The measurement is without the eye hook screws and any additional chain or hooks to hang it in front of your existing window. Sorry this one is SOLD!
Below is an 8 pane window I have hanging in my house, it is 5 ft long by 2 ft high
This was my very first glass on glass mosaic
I can also make smaller picture frame size glass on glass mosaics like this client sample pictured above and below, which is an 8 x 10 picture frame, with eye screws on the top so that it can be hung in front of a window. This size is $200 plus shipping
Here it is with sunlight behind it
